Our Mission

CultivatingFuture Leaders

Through summer seminars, mentorship with business leaders, competitions, and a national network, we cultivate the next generation of Canadians who understand and can articulate the case for economic freedom.

Young Canadians for Free Enterprise is the Canadian Freedom Institute's flagship programme for high school and university students passionate about entrepreneurship, economics, and free-market principles. Through summer seminars, mentorship with business leaders, competitions, and a national network, we cultivate the next generation of Canadians who understand and can articulate the case for economic freedom.

The programme addresses a critical gap in Canadian education and public life. Young people hear plenty about the failures of markets and the need for government intervention, but rarely encounter thoughtful, rigorous arguments for free enterprise. Many have never met an entrepreneur or heard firsthand how businesses create value, jobs, and opportunity. Young Canadians for Free Enterprise provides that exposure.

Our approach combines intellectual depth with practical experience. Summer seminars feature leading economists, successful entrepreneurs, and policy experts who engage students in serious discussion about how economies work. But we also connect students with mentors who can guide them in starting businesses, pursuing careers, and becoming effective advocates for the ideas they believe in.

Fellows in the programme become part of a national network of like-minded young Canadians. They attend regional events, participate in online discussions, and build relationships that will last throughout their careers. Many of today's business and policy leaders trace their commitment to free-market ideas to formative experiences in their youth—Young Canadians for Free Enterprise creates those experiences.

The programme is deliberately inclusive. We recruit students from diverse backgrounds, regions, and fields of study. Free-market ideas are not the province of any single demographic—they appeal to anyone who values opportunity, innovation, and individual freedom. Our fellows include future entrepreneurs, lawyers, journalists, policymakers, and citizens who will carry these ideas into every sector of Canadian life.
